“pure imagination''
The gates to the chocolate factory will be open wide in may half term!
The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas.

Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley score from the 1971 film with songs from the motion picture including "Candy Man," "I've Got a Golden Ticket," "Oompa Loompa Song," and "Pure Imagination."

ADVANCED INFORMATION FOR THOSE KEEN TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE JUNIOR ROLES

Later this year we will be on the search for just 10 children to join us in our production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The golden tickets will be handed out when auditions are held in November / December 2024. There are no additional junior ensemble in this production. We have already had a very high amount of interest. Children are expected to have previous performance experience - singing examinations and/or drama qualifications are advantageous for those keen to try out for the roles.

For this production the roles of Charlie, Veruca, Mike, Augustus and Violet will be cast from members aged 9 - 16. Height restrictions will apply with children required to be under 5ft 2'' at the time of auditions.
