What is JTF

🎭 Join Our Award-Winning Junior Theatre Festival Team 2025! 🎭

After our incredible successes at JTF in 2022, 2023, and 2024 - bringing home multiple awards - we are thrilled to offer young performers the chance to take part in the Junior Theatre Festival at Birmingham ICC on Saturday, 24th May 2025!

This prestigious event brings together talented students from across Europe to perform a 15-minute musical theatre showcase, adjudicated by top industry professionals.

The day is packed with:
✨ Expert feedback to help performers grow
✨ Inspiring workshops in dance, singing, and acting
✨ Performances from West End stars and industry professionals

For 2025, we are excited to be taking two teams:

🎭 JTF TEAM (Ages 8-16)
🎭 JTF TEEN TEAM (Ages 14-18)

📌 Performers aged 14-16 (who were not involved in 2024’s production of Beauty and the Beast and aren’t involved in Grease) are invited to audition for the JTF Teams on the audition date on Monday 3rd February. Following these auditions, a small number of performers may be invited to join the JTF Teen Team. Please note: If you are aged 14-16 and are asked to join the JTF Teen Team, you will have the option to choose which team you would like to join. Both teams offer incredible opportunities although solo roles are likely to be allocated to the older members of each team unless age is relevant to the role.

If you’re passionate, dedicated, and love performing, we want to hear from you! Apply now and be part of something truly special.

📅 Applications are now open – don’t miss out!

Rehearsals

Mondays 4.45 - 6.00pm.

Rehearsals for our JTF 2025 team are expected to begin Monday, 24th February (4.45  - 6:00pm). There will be a total of 10 rehearsals leading up to the festival, where we will prepare a 15-minute performance to be adjudicated by West End and international professionals.

Show choice

We will choose our show title to present our 15 minute performance once we have cast our JTF team. Currently, we are considering Oliver Jr, Shrek Jr, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr - however, this may change, and we will select a show that best showcases the group’s talents.

📌 Please Note: If your child has previously performed in the chosen show with us before JTF in a specific role, they may be considered for the same role, but this is not guaranteed. All roles will be re-auditioned within class offering new opportunities and the best possible showcase of the team.

Auditions

An Audition Workshop will be held on Monday, 3rd February from 4.45pm - 6:00pm for all children interested in joining. Due to high demand and limited spaces, this audition process helps us build a strong and committed team.

🔹 We have approximately 30 spaces available.
🔹 No preparation needed - just turn up and take part!
🔹 Following the workshop, we will select and allocate places to successful applicants.

✨ JTF is all about teamwork! While some members may be excited about potential solo lines, it’s important to understand that this is an ensemble-based performance. Not every child will have a solo, and casting decisions will be made to create the strongest overall performance that represents our fabulous musical theatre company.

🔹 If a child is only interested in taking part if they have a solo role, this may not be the right opportunity for them.
🔹 We expect all students to embrace their allocated roles with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Casting decisions are final and made with the goal of delivering the best group performance possible.
🔹 Individual roles will be allocated by the end of February.
🔹 Auditions for roles will take place during class in the first few weeks.
🔹 Last year’s AllStars included students with no solo lines - JTF recognises teamwork and dedication, so every performer has a chance to shine!

We can’t wait to get started and bring this incredible experience to life! 🎶✨

The cost

There is a cost associated with each child's participation in the day and rehearsal process. We’ve worked hard to keep the fees as affordable as possible, and the Wigle team will be dedicating extra hours to create the content and prepare for the sessions.

The cost for each student is £189.00, which covers:

  • MTI registration fee

  • Entrance to the festival

  • A group T-shirt

  • Masterclasses led by industry professionals

  • A live performance by guest stars from the West End

  • Return coach travel from Shrewsbury to Birmingham

  • Chaperone fee

  • Contribution to Wigle teaching and preparation time

We are excited to provide an unforgettable experience for all participants!
