Hi, my name is Breanne (most know me as Bree) and I am playing the role of Margaret New.

What makes Margaret such a special character?

Margaret is Jamie's mum. She is fiercely protective of Jamie and has the most ferocious love for him, even when things get difficult. I think she's someone a lot of people can relate to, because she's just trying to do her best for the one person she loves the most.

​

What's your favourite scene to perform?

My favourite scene is "He's My Boy" which is Margarets' big sing towards the end of the show. Throughout the show we've seen Margaret show this protective, loyal side of her and this song shows a much more vulnerable, broken side which I've loved exploring.

​

How would you describe Margaret in three words?

Selfless. Nurturing. Human.

​

What's your favourite relationship in the show, and why?

My favourite relationship in the show with Ray who is Margarets best friend. Michelle who plays Ray is a force to be reckoned with and I've loved watching her bring this bubbly, fierce character to life. I love how different Margaret and Ray are and despite how quick fire their exchanges can be, they always come together to support each other through anything whether big or small. We all need a Ray (& Michelle) in our lives.

What has been your favourite rehearsal memory?

I absolutely loved the Sunday rehearsal when we did our very first run of the show. Watching these past few months of hard work come together to piece the show was so fun and enjoyable. It all started feeling very real and that was exciting.

​

If Margaret could give one piece of advice, what would it be?

"In trying to hold everyone else together, don't forget that your own heart deserves the same kindness you give so freely to others."

I think this resonates with Margarets journey throughout the show perfectly.

Which song are you most excited for audiences to hear?

I can't wait for the audience to hear the ENTIRE SHOW because the score is awesome but if I had to choose one number it would be "Everybodys Talking About Jamie". It is such a fun, energetic number and we all laugh at how wacky the lyrics are! The song is like one big tongue twister!

What do you love most about this production?

In a time when life can feel so uncertain and overwhelming, this show is a gorgeous reminder to celebrate individuality. It encourages people to embrace who they are, never be unafraid of the unknown, support one another, and find the joy in being unapologetically themselves. It teaches us to be brave and embrace who we are. I think that's a message we could all do with hearing.

If you've heard of the story, seen the show or have never heard or seen it, I think there is something for everyone in Everybodys Talking About Jamie. It is a beautifully poignant story filled with humour, emotion, heart break, joy, celebration & love. The characters are colourful and real and I think everyone can relate to a character in some way or another.
