BEHIND THE GOLDEN CURTAIN:
From Fame to Fudge Rooms: Danii Scott Reflects on 14 Years with Get Your Wigle On

You were part of Get Your Wigle On as a teenager – do you remember your very first show with us?
My first show with the company was Fame in 2011 – I was about 15, and I absolutely adored it. That was actually before Get Your Wigle On expanded into multiple groups and classes.

Wow, you're basically an O.G Wigle!
Yes! After Fame, I went on to perform in several teen productions like Cats (which I loved), Seussical, a few concerts, Beauty and the Beast, and The Wizard of Oz. So many brilliant shows that I still look back on really fondly.

Tell the audience a bit about your journey from Get Your Wigle On to now.
After completing my professional training at Bird. I returned to Get Your Wigle On for Priscilla Queen of the Desert rehearsals in 2023. Since then I've
Even though I perform in the Squirrels number, my favourite to choreograph was Veruca and her dad’s piece. I loved crafting that bratty energy - it was so - much fun to bring to life.

How does it feel to be back with the company after all these years?
It’s been amazing. The first thing I noticed when I came back was how kind everyone is. It’s such a welcoming environment, and it's really easy to get along with people. There's a fantastic mix of personalities and energy, which makes Get Your Wigle On such a positive space. It was the same when I was younger - Wigle’s always had that friendly, community feel.
You’ve helped shape some of the big dance numbers in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - which moment has been your favourite to choreograph?
Definitely Veruca and her dad’s piece. There’s something really entertaining about leaning into her bratty character—it gave me so much room to play with theatricality and humour.

Be honest – how tricky was it to choreograph a dance involving squirrels?
The Squirrels number wasn’t too difficult to choreograph overall, but the real challenge was working out the lifts and making sure everything flowed safely and smoothly. Also, figuring out how to make Veruca look perfectly dishevelled -without going over the top.... it took some fine-tuning!

From a dancer’s perspective, what makes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a special show?
I absolutely love the Bavarian vibe in More of Him to Love. The choreography is lively and fun, and Max and Brie perform it so well—it’s just a joy to watch and work on.

How has it felt working with the current generation of Wigle performers?
It’s honestly been a pleasure. Everyone is so warm and easy to work with, and the range of personalities and talents in the room makes the whole experience feel really dynamic and exciting.

Have you spotted a “mini-you” in the cast?
Minnie me? Hmm… maybe Bella! She remembers choreography in such detail and is always quick to offer input - she’s vocal and passionate… just like I was (and still am, let’s be honest!). I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of that!
Favourite moment in the show? (No spoilers!)
More of Him to Love again - it just stands out for me. The vibe, the vocals, the dancing… it all comes together perfectly.
And finally – the most important question of all: what’s your absolute favourite chocolate bar?
It has to be a classic Kinder Bueno. No contest!
